Radiation oncology
Radiation Oncology mainly describes the treatment and diagnosis of the cancer using ionizing radiation therapies. The most widely used therapy is use of high-energy radiation to shrink tumors and kill cancer cells. Following are types of radiation therapies:
- Volumetric modulated radiation therapy (VMAT)
- Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT)
- 3D conformal radiation therapy.
- Intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT)
- Image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT)
- Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS)
- Brachytherapy
- . Superficial x-ray radiation therapy (SXRT)
